Mr Scaramanga could line up at Lingfield on Saturday week following his recent big-money win in Qatar.

Simon Dow's charge bagged nearly £116,000 when winning the Al Biddah Mile, a local Group Two, in Doha last month on what was just his third start for the Epsom trainer after previously being in the care of Richard Hannon.

The three-year-old reached a mark of 99 for Hannon and although he won on his debut for Dow in December, he had been last of four in a conditions race at Newcastle in January.

Dow admits he was pleased to see him bounce back and is now mulling the options for his charge.

He said: "There's a small chance he could go for the Italian Guineas on May 1, but he could go for the International Stakes at Lingfield on April 8 first. There are no hard and fast plans at present, though.

"We knew he was a decent horse for Richard Hannon last year, but he just ran so badly at Newcastle that you began to wonder if he had not really gone on.

"The owners are very sporting and they would love to have a runner at Royal Ascot so the Britannia might be an option.

"You'd love to think about the Group races, but you do have to keep your feet on the ground a bit. He went to Doha and he has that form in the book, but we have just got to see if he can back it up now.

"We will keep all the options open for him."
