Arlington Million the aim for fast-ground lover Deauville

Aidan O'Brien is looking towards the Arlington Million for Deauville after his narrow defeat at Leopardstown.

Already a Grade One winner in America, Deauville needs to hear his hooves rattle and rain before the Meld Stakes on Thursday was not in his favour.

Nevertheless, he was still sent off the odds-on favourite but just failed to hold off Jim Bolger's Moonlight Magic.

"He ran a great race. The plan is to go to the Arlington Million and I wanted to run him. He loves hard fast ground," said O'Brien.

"The winner is a good horse and had very good form. I thought he ran a very good race.

"We needed to get a run between now and Arlington. We could have gone to Ascot (Summer Mile) but it came up good to soft there. We took a chance but he needed to run. I'd delighted with him."
