David Elsworth hopes all of his good luck has not been used up after giving Desert Skyline the green light to contest the Prix Kergorlay at Deauville on Sunday.

The Newmarket handler will be bidding to win the one-mile-seven-furlong Group Two contest for a third time, having claimed it with Persian Punch in 2000 and Gold Medallist in 2004.

Desert Skyline has yet to win this season, but he has run some brave races in defeat, including when third in the Goodwood Cup.

Elsworth said: "I've got him in over in France. There was the Geoffrey Freer at Newbury but I think he will be better off in the Kergorlay.

"It's a race I've been lucky in a few times so we will see if we can get a repeat win in it.

"I won it with Gold Medallist, who I then sold to Philip Hobbs to go jumping, and old Persian Punch won it as well so I don't know whether we have already exhausted our chances.

"He holds several of them (rivals) on form. When you look at the weight for age he comes out quite favourably.
