This afternoon's meeting at Lingfield goes ahead after the track passed an inspection.

Clerk of the course George Hill was due to inspect the track at 7.30am but was able to give the go-ahead earlier than planned.

The ground is reported to be heavy and the second hurdle up the hill will be bypassed.

However Tuesday's meeting at Newcastle has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

After being hit by snow last week, clerk of the course James Armstrong reports the course to be thawing, but the track is not raceable at present.

He tweeted: "Rapid thaw taking place at Newcastle, however, it is resulting in large areas of waterlogging. As a result, racing is abandoned on Tuesday, March 6. Hopefully spring is just around the corner!"

Officials at Exeter have called a precautionary inspection for 1pm on Monday ahead of Tuesday's scheduled meeting.

Following snow at the track last week, the course is reported to have started to thaw on Saturday and now has some snow, some frozen patches and some areas of waterlogging.

However, temperatures could climb as high as 8C on Monday, so after an initial morning check, a further inspection will be held later in the day.
