Hugo Palmer is looking forward to seeing White Mocha test his powers over longer trips following his runner-up finish in last week's Craven Stakes at Newmarket.

The Lope De Vega colt was pitched in at the deep end on his seasonal reappearance but emerged with plenty of credit after finishing second behind runaway winner Masar.

Palmer immediately ruled out a tilt at the 2000 Guineas and feels the time is right to see White Mocha test his Derby credentials in one of the trials.

Palmer said: "I was very pleased with him and Ryan Moore was hugely complimentary about the horse.

"He was ridden to beat the favourite (Roaring Lion) and he did that, but Ryan just felt he was too far back to do anything about the lovely controlling ride that William Buick gave the winner.

"Under different circumstances there would be less than nine lengths between Masar and White Mocha.

"We will look to step him up in trip now. I took him out of the Guineas and we could now look at the Newmarket Stakes on Guineas weekend, the Dee Stakes or the Lingfield Derby Trial."
