Dream Ahead's trainer David Simcock will remain loyal to jockey William Buick, despite Hayley Turner's July Cup success with the three-year-old.

Buick was riding in York, meaning Turner stepped in to become the first woman to win a Group One race outright, external.

"William will keep the ride, that was always the case," Newmarket-based Simcock told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, external.

"Hayley will fully understand that, they're all professionals at the end of the day."

Simcock is looking to build on Dream Ahead's victory with an entry into August's Prix Maurice de Gheest.

That will be followed by runs in the Haydock Sprint Cup and the Quipco Sprint championship at Ascot.

"There's an obvious pattern, he'll go to France next, probably followed by Haydock and then Ascot," he told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"We feel very privileged, one of these horses doesn't come along very often, and we'll enjoy it while he's with us.

"He's a very special horse, I'm pleased he enhanced his reputation."

The Khalifa Dasmal-owned colt was rated joint-best two-year-old along with Frankel last year, after wins in the Shadwell Middle Park Stakes and Prix Morny, external.

And while Frankel has progressed to over a mile, Simcock has ruled out running Dream Ahead on longer distances.

"I would say a mile is just out of his compass," he explained.

"He's versatile in that we could go six-and-a-half, seven furlongs with him no problem at all."
